The latest development from Korea University in Seoul is the CASPER attack, which uses a computer’s built-in speaker and ultrasound to transmit data. Thus, an attacker can transmit binary code or Morse code at a distance of up to one and a half meters, using a smartphone or laptop as a receiver. The attack requires malware to be installed on an isolated computer and can be used to search for files or as a keylogger. CASPER is an interesting addition to other spy attacks such as ETHERLED, COVID-bit and SATAn. More information about CASPER can be found here.
